About ForÊt

Forêt specializes in one-of-a-kind furniture and decorative objects imported from Europe and originating from the 18th, 19th, and early-20th centuries. With an emphasis on items from the Scandinavian provinces, we seek out rare pieces whose beauty is classical, understated and fresh. Their quiet expression yields astounding visual impact. Translucent washes of pigment, lingering gold dust, or impromptu chisel marks comprise some of the time-honored qualities that lend significance to these objects and--by extension--the rooms they inhabit.

Forêt carries great stuff, but our atmosphere and attitude are never stuffy. Each object merits the attention to be well placed and admired as a work of art; yet, these same pieces could be characterized as perfectly humble. They layer as easily within today’s cleaned-up interiors as within the embellishments of greenery found at Forêt.

Amy MarverAmy Marver established Forêt as a creative pursuit and the culmination of nearly 20 years of work and regular travel between Europe and the US. After earning a Ph.D. in Art History and holding a fellowship position at the Smithsonian, Amy traded lecture halls for market stalls along the remote paths of Europe. Here, her skillful eye and admiration for uncommon objects work together to earmark items for safe transport to America, where they are accessible to clients of Forêt. Previously, she ran an esteemed European antiques shop on the East Coast and led buying tours in Europe. During the years spent overseas, Amy developed a trusted network of sources and friends that assist her in acquiring authentic pieces that meet the visual hallmarks and quality standards of Forêt.
