This is an exceptional pair of slender wooden pricket candlesticks with delicately carved laurel leaves and gadrooning lobes that extend down onto a tripod base with hoof feet. Traces of red bole and gesso appear through the crackled silver overlay. All sides are finished. Discovered in France, but could be of Italian origin. Very good condition with some wear to feet typical of age. (FS)
