PROVENCAL LADDERBACK BENCH

This is a highly sought after and charming 18th or early 19th Century antique Provençial three-part curved ladder back settee with a rush seat. Carved arms slope downward into turned fluted supports. The backrest has simple carved and painted edgework. The apron is divided into three sections, each with a carved floral and painted frieze and turned horizontal supports. The four stout turned and fluted front legs are joined to the rear with cross stretchers. Gray-blue paint is accented with brighter blue trim.
